Summer Garden Wedding Inspiration at North Georgia Wedding Venue

Guys, are you as smitten as we are with the “Summer Garden meets Wildflowers” vibe in this photo by Candice of Candice Holcomb Photography? Kelly & Sarah of Flowerbuds whipped up that bouquet on site! As the wedding designers, they made sure to keep everything modern and intimate while drawing inspiration from the raw, earthy elements of the stone “Ruins”, which are part of this wedding venue in North Georgia.

Dreamiest garden backdrop, right? The “ruins” are part of The Ruins at Kellum Valley, a wedding venue in North Georgia. The centerpieces were a combo of wildflowers and other natural growing blooms that were shaped into loose, free-forming bunches, like a cool Summer breeze! Here are a few favorite hot-weather flowers, from Flowerbuds, the talented floral duo of Kelly & Sarah:

Astilbe-”It’s abundant in Summer gardens, and we love the feather like texture”

Cosmos-”Light-weight, like butterflies in the garden”

Garden Roses-”Huge range of colors and they are so fragrant”

Mint-”The fragrance is very soothing on a hot afternoon”

Orchids-”The most heat resistant flowers for summer weddings”

This bride was thinking comfort, and cool when she chose all white short dresses for her girls, then added natural colored and comfortable shoes (their choice on both!). We love that some dresses were lace, or embroidered, while others were A-line or flowy, and it all comes together perfectly. Lulu’s is a great go to for white summer dresses at affordable prices!

Strapless dresses, chilled drinks, a slight breeze in the air, and a vacation mentality: all reasons summer is still one of the most popular seasons to have a wedding. But, there can be one downside: the heat. And while it certainly cools off in the Georgia Mountains, you still want to make sure your guests are comfortable. Here are a few creative ways to keep them cool.

Hand out chilled, scented towels. Have you ever been to the spa or yoga class, and had a chilled towel infused with a calming scent placed on your forehead or neck? If so, you know how effective it can be.

Provide cold drinks during the ceremony. Just like cold towels, a cold drink can instantly uplift a warm guest. Keep the summer vibes going and offer seasonal options like lemonade, or cucumber water. For an added touch, add a fun straw or pretty cup!

Put decorative fans on ceremony seats. Provide individual fans at every guests’ seat. Have the fans work double duty by printing your ceremony program, thank you’s or anything else you want to say!

Make it sweet and cool with popsicles. Get nostalgic with your guests by offering these yummy treats a s a pre-ceremony delight, or during cocktail hour. You can even incorporate them into your signature drink (or make them adult popsicles and infuse champagne or liquor into them) for an added dose of fun. King of Pops is a popsicle vendor that has unique flavors and food carts that cater to weddings. We have to admit, they have been to our Summer weddings, more than a few times!

Add sunscreen to the bathroom basket. If you are creating a bathroom basket, make it summer friendly with sunscreen, cooling wipes, oil blotters and maybe even mini misting bottles for an extra touch.

Have plenty of water available. This one seems like a no-brainer, but it is often forgotten. Get a stainless steel bucket or pretty container, fill it with ice and add a bunch of water bottles-it’s an easy addition that will make a big difference.
